Students Are Like Rubber Bands
Amanda Cuevas, The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Students Are Like Rubber Bands
Students are like rubber bands
often needing to be stretched and worn
to achieve their highest potential.
With the wrong tug or thoughtless movement,
the rubber band will break.
So, too, are students.
A teacher has a great responsibility
to discern those boundaries and
serve as a gentle guide to help build
strength, perseverance and flexibility
among his students.
Caution, care and skill must be used
to ensure that his
students remain unbroken.
Students are like rubber bands
often needing to be stretched and worn,
but never broken
to achieve their highest potential.
