Planning a Schedule for Fall Semester

    leaf

  1. Schedule an appointment with your adviser.

    1. Find your first day to register on your degree audit (see Using a Degree Audit).

    2. To guarantee a meeting with your adviser before your first day to register, take time now to schedule an appointment for any available date/time before your registration date.

  2. Prepare for your advising appointment.

Fill in the boxes below, print this page, and take it with you to discuss with your adviser at your appointment.

    1. List a major that you're interested in.

    2. Look at the Recommended Academic Plan for this major. (If there's no academic plan for this major, go on to the next step.) List any specific courses for the first four semesters that you haven't taken (MATH 141, CHEM 112, ECON 004, etc.) as well as any categories of courses (humanities, social/behavioral sciences, foreign language, etc.) that you haven't completed.

    3. Check Entrance-to-Major Requirements to see if any specific courses are required to enter this major and list any of these courses you haven't taken. (If there are no entrance-to-major courses listed, go on to the next step.)

    4. Check Flexibility in General Education to see if the major requires any specific General Education courses. If so, list any you have not completed. Otherwise, list any General Education courses you'd like to take for this major.

    5. Request a degree audit from eLion for this major. In the section of the audit labeled “General Education Requirements,” find the requirements that you haven't completed. Use the Advanced Search to find a few Gen Ed courses that you would like to take in each category in the fall semester and list them.

    6. If your audit includes a section labeled “Bachelor of Arts Requirements,” find the requirements you haven't completed. Check B.A. Degree Requirements to find courses you would like to take to meet these requirements and list them below.

If you're considering more than one major, repeat the steps above for each major.
