What are the minimum computer and Internet requirements
needed to be able to take these tests online?

Computer Hardware Requirements
Any MAC (Macintosh) or PC (Personal Computer) capable of running Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Netscape 5.0 or higher, and/or Firefox 1.0.4 or higher should be acceptable. Most browser/computer combinations are acceptable, but Internet Explorer, Gecko, and Safari should NOT be used with a MAC.

Internet Connection Requirements
Almost any Internet connection (like those available from AT&T, AOL, CompuServe, etc.) provides a sufficient connection speed to take these tests. DSL and cable modem connections are typically more than sufficient, and any regular phone line modem yielding a connection speed of 28.8 Kbps should suffice. If you do not have such a connection at home, other possibilities may include your high school, local library, or the Penn State location closest to you.

Internet Browser Requirements
You must have Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Netscape 5.0 or higher, and/or Firefox 1.0.4 or higher as your Internet browser. Most browser/computer combinations are acceptable, but Internet Explorer, Gecko, and Safari should NOT be used with a MAC.
You must have JavaScript turned on within your browser (see "Turning on JavaScript" for details).

Note: If you are using AOL to connect to the Internet, please do NOT use the AOL browser to take the online tests. You may connect to the Internet using AOL, but after connecting, please use Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Netscape 5.0 or higher, and/or Firefox 1.0.4 or higher as your Web browser.
