NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Seven student-athletes from the Penn State Altoona baseball program were voted to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team as the league announced its postseason awards on Tuesday, May 14.
The total of seven Lions chosen to the All-Conference team ties the program-high for Penn State Altoona baseball, matching last year’s number of players recognized in the AMCC postseason honors.
Outfielder Jake Hillard, of State College, was voted to the first team of the All-AMCC squad; right-handed relief pitcher Sean Wing, of Staten Island, New York; and designated hitter Zach Ingold, of Pittsburgh, were both second-team selections. Right-handed starting pitcher Eric Seick, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey; right-handed relief pitcher Corey Chamberlain, of Claysburg; first baseman Jonathan Rauch, of Pittsburgh; and junior outfielder Tyreke Green, of Altoona, were all picked to the third team.
Hillard played in and started all 37 games during his fourth season with Penn State Altoona. Among all hitters in the AMCC, he ranks 16th in home runs (3), 19th in runs scored (29), 21st in hits (43), 24th in triples (1), 27th in runs batted in (23), total bases (57), and stolen bases (7), 31st in walks drawn (15), 33rd in batting average (.312), 38th in slugging percentage (.413), and 40th in on-base percentage (.380). He also was sixth in the league in sacrifice flies (3). In the field, Hillard committed just one error and was 12th in the AMCC in fielding percentage (.989).
Wing made a team-high 11 appearances on the mound for the Lions this season, with all of them coming in relief. In the AMCC, he is 17th in appearances (11), 25th in strikeouts (28), 27th in wins (2), and 29th in innings pitched (31 1/3), while tying for 10th in saves (1). Wing compiled a 2.87 earned run average, limited opposing hitters to a .263 batting average, and averaged 8.04 strikeouts per nine innings.
Ingold played in 29 games for the Lions, including making 28 starts. In the conference, he ranks fifth in on-base percentage (.472), 17th in walks drawn (19), 18th in batting average (.337), 24th in triples (1), 35th in slugging percentage (.430), 38th in doubles (6), 51st in hits (29), 55th in runs scored (19), and 57th in total bases (37).
Seick made a team-high nine starts for Penn State Altoona on the pitching rubber and had 10 total appearances this season, his first with the program. Among all pitchers in the AMCC, he is first in shutouts (1), fourth in complete games (3), fifth in wins (4), ninth in starts (9), 10th in innings pitched (51 2/3) and ERA (3.83), 13th in WHIP (1.47), 19th in strikeouts (36) and strikeouts per nine innings (6.27), and 33rd in appearances (10).
Chamberlain made nine relief appearances on the mound for the Lions this season and did not yield an earned run while serving as the team’s closer. He led the AMCC in saves (8) and ranked fourth in the league in opponent batting average (.111). Chamberlain pitched 7 2/3 innings and struck out 12 batters, averaging 14.09 strikeouts per nine innings. The right-hander allowed just three hits, one walk, and one unearned run.
Rauch played in 34 games this season with Penn State Altoona, including making 33 starts. In the AMCC, he ranks sixth in home runs (4), ninth in slugging percentage (.523) and hit by pitch (6), 13th in doubles (9), 15th in RBI (28), 17th in on-base percentage (.426), 21st in batting average (.333), 25th in total bases (58), 29th in hits (37), 34th in runs scored (24), and 52nd in walks drawn (12).
Green played in and started 36 games for the Lions this season. In the conference, the center fielder ranks 14th in triples (2), 19th in stolen bases (9), 26th in hits (39), walks drawn (16), and batting average (.325), 27th in runs scored (26), 28th in on-base percentage (.406), 30th in RBI (22), 33rd in total bases (52) and slugging percentage (.433), and 38th in doubles (6).
Hillard’s selection to the AMCC All-Conference team is the fourth of his career. Chamberlain and Green’s selections are their second, and Ingold, Rauch, Seick, and Wing are all first-time picks.
Penn State Altoona baseball finished its 2024 season with a 17-20 overall record, including an 8-8 mark in the AMCC that placed the Lions fifth in the conference standings.
