Procedure:
At the end of each semester as a part of the grade reporting procedure
the Registrar's office will monitor the academic progress of all provisional
students according to the following schedule.
- 18 credits completed - If a student has completed 18 credits with a
cumulative grade-point average of 2.00 or higher, the student will be considered
to be making satisfactory academic progress.
- If after completion of 18 credits the student's cumulative grade-point
average falls below 2.00, the student will be given a warning. The student
will be notified of the warning by the Registrar.
- At the end of each semester, the Registrar will inform each provisional
student who has reached or exceeded 18 credits of the following:
- The requirement for continued enrollment as a provisional student.
- The procedure for changing from provisional status to degree
status (Ref: Senate Policy 12-00).
- The prohibition of enrolling as a provisional student after attempting
and completing 36 or more credits.
- 27 credits completed - If a student has completed 27 credits
or more with a cumulative grade-point average of less than 2.00, the student
will be dropped from provisional status. The student will be notified of
the drop action by a letter from the Registrar.
- 36 credits completed - No student will be permitted to continue
to enroll as a provisional student upon the completion of 36 credits. Students
completing 36 credits will be notified that they will not be permitted to
continue enrollment in a provisional status by the initiation of a "hold"
by the Registrar. The "hold" will prevent further registration as a provisional
student. The student may seek admission as a degree student or enrollment
as a nondegree student.
