Senate Policy: 42-98.1, Formal Military Service School Courses
A current degree candidate or current student who has enrolled or completed at least one course of three credits or more at Penn State interested in receiving credit for formal military service school courses must submit the following items to the Undergraduate Admissions Office: A Request for Evaluation of Education Experiences in the Armed Services form and an official Department of Defense record of military service which specifies the formal military service school courses.
The form and information on the proper Department of Defense record to be submitted may be obtained from the admissions office.
A list of the Department of Defense records required for this evaluation is given also in A Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services, published by the American Council on Education.
The Director of Admissions is responsible for adding the appropriate credit to the candidate's academic record. (Ref: Senate Policy 42-98).
Senate Policy: 42-98.2, Health and Physical Education
A current degree candidate or current student who has enrolled or completed at least one course of three credits or more at Penn State interested in receiving credit for physical education and health education is responsible for requesting an evaluation and submitting an official Department of Defense record that documents the successful completion of basic training conducted by a branch of the armed services. The request and supporting document(s) should be forwarded to the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
The Director of Admissions is responsible for adding the appropriate credit to the candidate's academic record. (Ref: Senate Policy 42-98).
A current degree candidate or current student who has enrolled or completed at least one course of three credits or more at PennState seeking credit for Participating College and University (PC and U) courses should arrange for an official transcript of such work to be sent directly to the Undergraduate Admissions Office. The policies and procedures followed are the same as those for transfer of credit from accredited colleges and universities given in Senate Policy 42-82.
A current degree candidate or current student who has enrolled or completed at least one course of three credits or me at Penn State seeking credit for a DSST or USAFI course is advised to contact the appropriate academic department and request an evaluation of such courses. The candidate is responsible for providing any information or materials requested for the review. If credits are to be awarded, the departmental chairperson should forward a recommendation in writing to the Director of Admissions, who is responsible for adding the appropriate credit to the candidate's academic record. A copy of the recommendation is to be sent to the college dean in which the candidate is enrolled. (Ref: Senate Policy 42-98)
