Placement Testing
To prepare for your participation in the First-Year Testing,
Consulting, and Advising Program (FTCAP), you must
complete required placement testing in mathematics and
chemistry. If you have not yet taken these tests go to:
http://dus.psu.edu/ftcap/survey to complete the Educational
Planning survey, take the tests, and learn more about FTCAP.
These activities must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on Friday,
August 17 so that your results are available to you at your
assigned FTCAP session during August 21-24. Allow about 2
hours to complete the tests.

First-Year Testing, Consulting, and Advising Program (FTCAP) –
Academic Planning Sessions and Academic Advising
Students are assigned to participate in one of these sessions,
as follows:
Tuesday, August 21 or Wednesday, August 22 – International students
Thursday, August 23 or Friday, August 24 – Domestic students (those
students graduating from US high schools)
For all four dates check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. in HUB Lobby. The
academic planning session is 9:00-noon. The academic advising/course
scheduling session with advisers in your college of enrollment takes place
in the afternoon of your assigned FTCAP day (beginning at 1:30 p.m.). You will
be notified about the date, time, and location for this session. Please be
aware that FTCAP is scheduled during arrival days. If you wish to move
into your residence hall prior to your FTCAP day, you may do so by
contacting Housing at 800-778-8006. Be prepared to inform the staff
member of your name, ID number, and fall room assignment when you
call. A small fee applies. Students attending FTCAP during August 21-24
are urged to coordinate move-in arrangements prior to arriving on campus.
1:30-4:00 p.m. Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) Academic Advising, Course Scheduling, and Registration Meeting, 111 Wartik Lab
This meeting is only for new first-year DUS and
provisional students who did not attend the First-
Year Testing, Consulting, and Advising Program
(FTCAP) between May 14 and July 12, 2012.
Assistance with course scheduling for fall 2012
will be provided at this meeting.

foundation for the FTCAP activities. Online placement testing must be
completed by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, as placement tests are
necessary for course scheduling and academic advising. You will receive
