The Office uses organizational change tools to help departments and units develop strategic plans, improve key processes, assess institutional needs, and develop collaborative team environments.
Services of the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment are provided free of charge to The Pennsylvania State University and are adapted to the specific needs of departments or individuals.

Understanding Adult Learner Program Completion - Presented at the North East Association for Institutional Research 34th Annual Conference, November 2007 - This paper was recently presented at the 34th annual conference of the North East Association for Institutional Research. It explores factors affecting degree completion and the use of student financial aid for adult learners and provides some comparison with traditional age students.
Using a Case Study to Introduce Continuous Quality Improvement to Newcomers - Two approaches for using continuous quality improvement (CQI) to improve processes are presented based on a case study used at the Eighth Annual Conference of the National Consortium for Continuous Improvement in Higher Education. The case study walks through a “mini”- CQI project to help groups who are unfamiliar with the concepts of CQI to apply a structured approached to finding solutions.
