Objective

To develop new public awareness and consumer education programs that utilize the radio and newspaper media to reach Pennsylvanians with information from the college.

Results Achieved to Date

  • Two news features are produced each week and are available for access 24 hours a day by any radio station that calls a toll free number
  • During the first 31 weeks of production from November, 1998 until the end of June, 1999 they have received 757 phone calls requesting shows or an average of 24 calls per feed
  • The newspaper spots, Penn State Pointers, present educational materials
  • These educational articles are featured in eleven newspapers with a circulation over 20,000 readers and nine newspapers with a circulation of under 10,000 readers
