Objective

AgMap is an E-commerce Website that allows anyone conducting business in agriculture in Pennsylvania to interactively "digitize" their business location and populate a database describing their products and/or services. Consumers searching for agricultural products and services can search the database both spatially (i.e. proximity) and based on business characteristics. The service is being offered free to all businesses through Cooperative Extension.

Challenge:
To compile a directory of agricultural business in Pennsylvania in order to make it easier for farmers and buyers to find each other.

Methodology:

By searching the AgMap database farmers and buyers can find complete descriptions and contact information for products grown or made in Pennsylvania. The service is being offered for free to all businesses through Cooperative Extension.

Results Achieved to Date

  • Created an online agricultural directory of 479 agricultural businesses in Pennsylvania, in order to make it easier for farmers and buyers to find each other. By searching the AgMap database you can find complete descriptions and contact information for products grown or made in Pennsylvania.
