Team # 796 -- Varicella (Chickenpox) Education and Notification Team
Student Affairs
October 2007
Objective
To increase awareness among college students of the need for 2 doses of the Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccine and encourage compliance with international recommendations. During the 2006-2007 academic year, we experienced an increase in the number of diagnosed cases of varicella. Investigation of each of the cases revealed that none of those infected had received 2 doses of varicella vaccine. Analysis of data from reports by new students in 2007 (summer and fall semesters) showed that less than 40% of incoming students are either non-compliant and at risk for contracting varicella or have not reported their immunization/disease status.Team Membership
