Team # 907 -- Unicode Working Group
University Libraries

January 2009

To manage the process of converting the catalog database to Unicode, the international standard for encoding characters for use by computers. The Libraries’ catalog was unable to display information about our collections in languages using non-Latin characters, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Russian. Use of Unicode characters supports the worldwide exchange, processing and display of the written texts of the diverse languages and technical disciplines of the modern world.
