Team # 978 -- University Park Reference and Consultation Services Council
University Libraries

February 2009

Objective

To create a more coordinated and cohesive approach to reference and consultation services at University Park. The Council's charge corresponds to other Libraries’ Councils: Access Services Council, Collection Development Council, and the Bibliographic Services Council.

The Council will broadly engage our faculty and staff through its cross-departmental membership, by appointing action teams to address specific issues, and by fostering dialogue about our user services. The Council will both develop a tactical plan that will serve as a blueprint for our future directions and identify immediate actionable items that will improve our reference-related services for our users. In meeting its charge, the Council will develop policies, standards, and core competencies; develop mechanisms to enhance communications among all service points; track national trends and identify best practices; and craft a concise tactical plan.
