Making the Case for
Strategic Resource Allocation

January 20, 2009
1:00 - 2:45 p.m.
508 Rider

Instructor: Larry Goldstein, President, Campus Strategies

The current economic slowdown is putting tremendous pressure on university budgets. Falling endowment income, projected cuts in state budgets, and reduced ability to pay are creating significant challenges for institutions struggling to meet increasing student expectations.

Budgeting is a challenging exercise in good economic environments and even more so when times are difficult. Aligning an institution's budget with its top priorities results in more effective allocation of limited resources and allows for sustainable progress through a variety of economic conditions.

Join us for the Making the Case for Strategic Resource Allocation web conference to learn about a resource allocation approach that links institutional planning efforts with practical budgets and provides a decision-making framework for investing in administrative and academic programs.

This web conference provides a conceptual overview of a resource allocation methodology that focuses on prioritization and looks holistically at the resources an institution controls (dollars, staff, space, and technology). Specific examples will be used to illustrate how this model could be used.

This web conference can only be viewed in 508 Rider and will not be available via videoconference. If you would like to attend this event, please call the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment at 814-863-8721 or email psupia@psu.edu.
