Update:  NCCI Request for Proposals for 2012 Annual Conference

Do you have information to share about initiatives in your unit that address innovation, collaboration, leadership, or change? Consider submitting a proposal to make a presentation at the 2012 conference of the National Consortium for Continuous Improvement in Higher Education, to be held in July 2012 in Alexandria, Virginia.

Feature Article: Penn State CQI Team Accomplishments: Serving Students, Using Technology

Penn State’s first of over more than 900 Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams was formed in 1991. As more and more CQI teams formed, the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment established the CQI Team Database. We contact teams in the database about a year or two after their initial work to learn about results. Thanks to all of the teams that responded during the summer and fall of 2011 to provide us with this information. Here are some examples of what we have learned about the results of their work, with links to details and related information.

Cancelled - Quality Advocates: Planning and Budgeting: Challenges and Approaches in Outreach and Agricultural Sciences

The Quality Advocates session on Planning and Budgeting: Challenges and Approaches in Outreach and Agricultural Sciences,  scheduled for November 22, 2011 is cancelled. Normally, this discussion by Dean Bruce McPheron and Vice President Craig Weidemann would have been timely and important, and we appreciate their willingness to contribute. But for the time being,  attention and energy have been overtaken by other events and concerns at the University. OPIA will continue to share information about future events as they are planned.

Penn State Institutional Research Interest Group: NSSE 360: Using National Survey of Student Engagement to Meet Multiple Assessment Goals

Panelists will share information about how they’ve used NSSE data in the past and plan to 2011 NSSE data. Topics include:

  • Using NSSE to review students’ participation in transformative co-curricular experiences
  • 3 NSSE cycles at Penn State Altoona and their impacts
  • Engaging faculty with NSSE data
  • Using NSSE to facilitate assessment of academic engagement
