3.2 Build International Partnerships at Home and Abroad (Year 1-2: 2009-2011)

Year 1: 2009-2010

The strategy is to establish more meaningful, multi-level partnerships within Penn State’s Global Engagement Network (GEN). Relationships have been established with Peking University and Dalian University of Technology in China, and through Penn State’s Alliance for Education, Science, Engineering, and Development in Africa (AESEDA). Work is underway to develop GEN relationships in the Middle East, Latin America, and India.

Year 2: 2010-2011

Expanding the Global Engagement Network (GEN), Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) were signed with University of Freiburg and University of Cape Town in May 2011. Further developing the relationship with Dalian University of Technology, the Joint Center for Energy Research was launched in April 2011. Additional task forces have reviewed or are examining opportunities related to Higher Education Capacity Building, Food Security, institutions in Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Peru, and India, and International Articulation Agreements.
