On April 30, 2008, the annual Quality Issues Forum was held to recognize 66 teams and 527 individuals for their contributions to innovation and improvement at Penn State during the past year. The event, sponsored by Executive Vice President and Provost Rodney Erickson and the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment, showcases recent and ongoing innovation and improvement throughout the University. The scope of this activity is reflected in the diversity of the teams, which represent 10 colleges, 5 campuses, and 8 support units. Of particular note are the 11 collaborative and interdisciplinary teams with membership that represents multiple colleges and support units. For more information see the Penn State Live article.
Keynote speaker, Maury Cotter, Director, Office of Quality Improvement, University of Wisconsin-Madison and immediate past president, National Consortium for Continuous Improvement in Higher Education (NCCI), spoke to the approximately 220 attendees at the annual Quality Issues Forum about "Making Change Happen from Wherever You Sit". Highlights and exerpts from remarks made by the keynote speaker.
Senior Vice President for Finance and Business/Treasurer Gary Schultz welcomed the attendees.
A listing of the teams being recognized in 2008
Since 1991, more than 800 continuous quality improvement teams and other quality initiatives have registered on the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment's database. New teams may register in the OPIA database. Members of teams formed between May 2008 and March 2009 will be invited to next year's Quality Issues Forum to be held in the Nittany Lion Inn in 2009.
