Rachel Smith joined the Provost's Office in July 2006 as the Financial Officer and Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President and Provost. In addition to her financial responsibilities, Rachel plays an important role in Penn State's planning and budgeting process. She provides staff support for the Budget Task Force, the Cost Savings Task Force, and the Facilities Resources Committee.

Rachel previously served as Financial Officer and Director of Budget and Finance in the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses. In this position, she supported the budget and finance functions of Penn State's campuses. She also served as an Administrative Fellow in the Office of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Business/Treasurer in 2004-05. Rachel has served on numerous advisory teams, task forces, and committees in her 27 years at Penn State, including the Enterprise Risk Management Key Initiative Team and the Business Intelligence Advisory Team.

Rachel completed her B.S. in Accounting and her M.Ed. in Higher Education from Penn State.
