Federal Pell Grant
Federally funded student gift aid that does not need to be repaid.
Awarded to undergraduate students who have high financial need who are working on their first bachelor's degree.
Awarded based on expected family contribution and number of credits you have scheduled.
May be awarded to students who are less than half-time (six credits).
The maximum fall-spring-summer award (for the 2009-10 academic year) is $5,350 for the academic year; the maximum per semester is $2,675.
Once you complete the FAFSA, you are automatically considered for the grant.
You must meet federal student aid eligibility requirements.
ACG and National SMART Grant
Additional grants are available to Pell-eligible students. The Higher Education Reconciliation Act of 2005 (HERA) created the grant programs to encourage students to attend college by taking more rigorous programs of study in high school and, once enrolled in college, to pursue majors in high demand in the global economy such as science, mathematics, technology, engineering, and critical foreign languages.
