Office of Student Aid : Aid Programs : Federal Work-Study : Information for Supervisors : Hiring Information
Hiring Information
All departments participating in the Federal Work-Study Program must submit a job proposal on the Integrated Student Information System (ISIS) (refer to the Federal Work-Study Manual). After entering the required information and agreeing to the terms and conditions of the Federal Work-Study Program, the job proposal will be approved, and a job number will be assigned to the position.
New positions can be added at any time prior to hiring a student.
Existing positions must be updated annually for the upcoming academic year (this may occur up to one year in advance).
An approved job proposal does not guarantee that the job will be filled but rather represents a position available to eligible students.
Job supervisors may interview any student who has a Federal Work-Study award. Supervisors are not permitted to hire members of their immediate families.
After selecting employees, job supervisors must hire the student on the AFEE screen (refer to the Federal Work-Study Manual) in the Integrated Student Information System (ISIS).
A student is not authorized to begin work until being hired on screen AFEE. If a student is allowed to work prior to a supervisor completing screen AFEE, the department is required to cover the student's hours worked.
IMPORTANT:
Students who do not begin working by the end of the second week of fall classes will have their fall and spring awards canceled unless they inform the Office of Student Aid of their intent to work before that date.Available positions appear on eLion and are removed when no longer available.
