Aid Application Completion Dates

First-Year Undergraduate, Graduate, and Transfer Students:
  • We strongly recommend that you submit the FAFSA on the Web by February 15 for maximum consideration of all student financial aid programs at Penn State.
  • The 2008-09 FAFSA on the Web is available starting January 1, 2008.
  • Our office begins sending paper award notifications to first-year students beginning in mid-March and continues on a regular basis thereafter as FAFSA information is received.

Returning Undergraduate and Graduate Students:

  • Submit the FAFSA on the Web by April 15 for maximum consideration of all student financial aid programs at Penn State.
  • If you are a current student and completed a previous year FAFSA, you can save time applying for 2008-09 student aid by answering "yes" to the question "Would you like to pre-fill your 2008-09 FAFSA?".
  • As a current student, you will receive an e-mail message at your Penn State e-mail address beginning in mid-to late June or after your FAFSA information is received (whichever is later) notifying you that your student financial aid award is accessible via the Student Aid Summary on eLion.

State Grant Deadlines:

  • Pennsylvania Residents--If you complete the FAFSA on the Web by the above recommended dates, you will also meet the 2008-09 Pennsylvania State Grant deadline of May 1, 2008.
  • Non-Pennsylvania Residents--Please access our list of state grants for out-of-state students for other state grant deadlines.
