Next Steps to Summer Aid for First-Year Students
It is important to complete the following steps in order for error-free processing of your summer 2008 student financial aid.

Step 7:
If you are a dependent student and still need funds to cover your educational expenses, discuss a Summer Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan with your parents.
Please note: The Federal Direct PLUS Loan requires a separate application in addition to the 2007-08 FAFSA on the Web.
- Review Federal Direct PLUS Loan information.
- If you are a dependent student, your parents are eligible to apply for a Federal Direct PLUS Loan for the Summer Session(s).
- Before your parent applies for the Federal Direct PLUS Loan, you should determine whether or not you are eligible for a summer Federal Direct Stafford Loan.
- Ask your parents to apply for a summer Federal Direct PLUS Loan, if interested.
- The maximum Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan available is your cost of attendance less all other student financial aid listed on your Student Financial Aid Notification for summer session(s).
- The loan term dates for a summer Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan are May 2008–August 2008.
Step 8:
Consider summer private alternative loan financing, if needed.
If you are ineligible for federal student financial aid or have remaining financial need after pursuing federal student financial aid options, you may need to consider alternative loans through private lenders.
- Review private alternative loan information.
- The maximum alternative loan you can borrow is your cost of attendance less all other student financial aid listed on your Student Financial Aid Notification for summer session(s).
- The loan term dates for a summer alternative loan are May 2008– August 2008.
