Office of Student Aid : Applying for Student Aid 2007-08 : Summer 2008 Aid : Next Steps to Summer Aid for Graduate Students
Next Steps to Summer Aid for Graduate Students
At Penn State, the academic year begins with the fall semester and ends with the summer session(s).
If you received the maximum award from the Federal Direct Stafford Loan Program during the fall 2007 and spring 2008 semesters, you will not be eligible for additional funds from that aid program during the summer 2008 session(s).
The Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan or private alternative loans are often good options for students during the summer session(s).
Complete the following steps in order and by the method described to ensure error-free processing of Summer 2008 student financial aid.
Steps 1 - 3 Steps 4 - 5 Steps 6 - 7
Step 1:
Review aid eligibility requirements.
Step 2:
Submit the 2007-08 FAFSA on the Web.
- Apply as soon as possible but no later than June 30, 2008 (federal FAFSA deadline).
- Before you complete your FAFSA on the Web, you will need a Federal Student Aid PIN. If you do not already have a PIN, you can apply for one at the PIN Registration Web site.
Step 3:
Schedule all the courses you intend to take during the summer session(s).
Note: If you are completing less than 9 credits, finalize your schedule on eLion and then make sure to check the box located below your schedule to indicate that you plan to enroll for fewer than 9 credits.
