Office of Student Aid : Penn State's Costs : Computer Access and Student Financial Aid

New students at Penn State are strongly encouraged to have computer access. Students who need financial help in purchasing a computer may request consideration from the Penn State Office of Student Aid. While no specific sources of student financial aid are available for students who buy a computer, the Office of Student Aid will make every effort to assist students in locating alternative funding sources--typically in the form of student loans.

To make it possible for our office to assist you with the processing of an increase to a student or Parent PLUS loan (which must be for a specific enrollment period), please keep in mind that you need to purchase your computer within the following timelines:

Fall/Spring Enrollment:

• For new first-year students: May 1 - April 30
• For returning students: August 1 - April 30

Fall-Only Enrollment: August 1 - November 30

Spring-Only Enrollment: December 1 - April 30

Summer Enrollment: May 1 - July 31
