Frequently Asked Questions
Miscellaneous Questions
How do I apply for Federal Work-Study?
Information on Federal Work-Study and other employment opportunities is available on our Web site.
Where can I find information about scholarships?
Our Web site is a good starting point to search for University and private scholarship resources.
If I plan to attend summer classes, am I eligible for student financial aid?
Aid resources are limited for the Summer Session. Federal Pell Grant and Direct Stafford Loans are available if you have remaining eligibility. If this is the first time you are applying for student aid this academic year, you must complete the FAFSA by June 30. Federal Work-Study is also available.
If I drop a course or withdraw, what will happen to my financial aid?
Dropping courses and withdrawing from Penn State are academic actions that often have financial implications. It is your responsibility to understand the effects that these actions will have on your student financial aid.
Access our information on dropping a course or withdrawing to determine how your aid might be affected if you drop or withdraw.
Is there student financial aid available to help me purchase a computer?
Although we do not have specific sources of student financial aid available for students who buy a computer, the Office of Student Aid will make every effort to assist students in locating alternative funding sources--typically in the form of student loans.
