Bill Payment Options
The fall eBill notices are rolling and tuition bill payments are due beginning on August 10, 2007. A number of options are available for making your student's payment including the eCheck option, which is available on eLion.
Students and their authorized Parents/Others with Friends of Penn State (FPS) accounts can pay electronically by entering their bank routing transit (ABA) number and bank account number, as well as the account holder's name. This option is a secure and fast way to finalize your student's registration, and there is no fee to pay by eCheck.
Other electronic payment options available on eLion are Mastercard or Discover credit card payments. These options are only available online and a 2% convenience fee is added to cover the costs of maintaining the service.
If you and your student do not wish to pay the tuition bill electronically using either the eCheck or credit card payment options, you can elect to "print a voucher" on eLion and send a paper check or money order via mail. If you elect that method, the voucher will include the Bursar's mailing address, but you should be sure to include your student's PSU ID number on your check or money order.
If you wish to split the balance due into installments, the deferred payment plan will allow you to pay over a period of three months. There is an additional fee of $45 to use the plan, which is payable with the first installment for the semester. You can elect this plan if you pay online via eCheck or credit card or if you are paying with a paper check. Additional information is available about Penn State's deferred payment plan online.
