Summer Disbursements
As summer classes approach, students and parents often wish to know when financial aid will be credited to the student's Bursar account and available for refund (if credits exceed charges).
Students who are attending the summer semester, whether for one session or both, will not have their aid disbursed until after they begin **all** their summer classes, i.e., when they are fully eligible for all student financial aid sources.
There are procedures in place that allow Bursar staff to check for students' latest class start date for the summer sessions. This information is reviewed daily, and once the latest class start date has been reached, aid is requested and disbursed--so long as students meet eligibility requirements (such as completed registration and enrollment in the minimum required credits). Once student financial aid disburses into students' accounts, refunds are generated if the credits exceed charges.
The fastest method for students to receive refunds is to sign up for the Bursar's Rapid Refund program. This can be completed by accessing Refunds from the "Students" menu on eLion and completing the electronic banking information requested. Students who do not sign up for Rapid Refund will be mailed paper refund checks via U.S. Postal Service.
