Penn State Office of Student Aid Parent Newsletter
Volume 5, Issue 1-- May 2007
Welcome to the May edition of the Parent Newsletter. I applaud your commitment to learning more about student financial aid, as it is increasingly essential to be an informed consumer. Each newsletter covers pertinent issues and provides you with general information and updates regarding financial aid.
Nationally, higher education costs are rising markedly. By understanding the rights and responsibilities involved in receiving student aid, you and your student will be better prepared to meet the challenge of covering the cost of this important investment in your student’s future.
College is a time of great change and growth for parents and students. As personal responsibilities shift to students, parents sometimes struggle with changing roles in their students’ lives. At Penn State, we communicate primarily with our students by electronic means. The goal of our newsletter is to provide information to parents, so that you have the tools necessary to assist your student navigate the financial aid steps (from application and eligibility to disbursement of aid funds).
We understand the importance of keeping you updated with timely information, so we hope these newsletters increase your understanding of student aid at Penn State. Please feel free to send us your suggestions and thoughts about ideas for future newsletter topics. Finally, we encourage you to browse our site and contact us with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Anna M. Griswold
