Yaw Agawu-Kakraba is a Professor of Spanish and Director of The Pennsylvania State University’s Office for Summer Session. He holds a B.A. (Honors) in Spanish and Linguistics from the University of Ghana and an M.A. in Spanish literature from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Yaw also studied at Cornell University where he received an M.A. and PhD in Hispanic Literatures and Culture. He has published extensively on contemporary Spanish narrative and drama. His most recent book, Postmodernity in Spanish Fiction Culture, was published in 2010 by the University of Wales Press.

Jessica L. Folmar is currently serving as the Administrative Support Assistant for the Office for Summer Session. She holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Pre-Law from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. Jessica is passionate about working with students and is dedicated to helping them in achieving their professional and educational goals. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, experimenting with cooking techniques and recipes, and traveling!
Jessica is a Centre County native who has come to realize that State College is THE place to be during the summer. |

Talia K. Carroll, LEAP Mentor Coordinator since 2009, believes in the program and its ability to assist first-year students in their transition into one of the largest public institutions in the country. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Higher Education program at Penn State. Her passion for higher education and improving the experiences of first-year students as they transition to college contributes to her love for her position.
