Mary Beahm, former Corporate Vice President of Human Resources for C-COR Inc. of State College, received her bachelor’s degree from the College of Health & Human Development in 1981 and her MBA in 1987, both from Penn State.

While a graduate student, Ms. Beahm was chosen as the gubernatorial appointee to the Board of Trustees to represent the University-wide student population. During her education, Ms. Beahm was president of Graduate Women in Management and a member of the University Student Executive Council. She was also a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Organizational Behavior.

Ms. Beahm has been recognized as an Outstanding Alum by the College of Health & Human Development and was also selected as one of Pennsylvania’s 50 Best Women in Business by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

She is active in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the State College Area YMCA and is a graduate of the Leadership Centre County Program. She is also a mentor for the Women’s Leadership Initiative within the College of Health & Human Development and a frequent participant in programs for the Smeal College of Business.

Ms. Beahm was first elected to the Board of Trustees by the alumni for a three-year term beginning in July 1,1990, and served for five terms ending June 30, 2005. She served in many capacities on the Board of Trustees including as a member of the Board’s Executive Committee, the Subcommittee on Audit, and as Trustee Liaison to the Alumni Association’s Executive Council.  She also served as Chairperson of the Board’s Committee on Campus Environment and Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Educational Policy.  

The title of trustee emerita was conferred upon her July 15, 2005.
