Barron L. "Boots" Hetherington is owner and operator of B&R Farms, a fruit and vegetable farm in Schuylkill County. 

Mr. Hetherington is a 1975 graduate of Penn State with a B.S. in Engineering.  He began his academic career at Penn State Schuylkill where he was involved in basketball (team co-captain in 1972), was chair of the Student Standard Boards, and Student Chorale.  At University Park, he was a member of the University Chapel Choir.  He has been a member of the Nittany Lion Club since 1975 and is a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association.  He received the Penn State Schuylkill Campus 2006 Alumni Achievement Award.  Mr. Hetherington is also involved with the Penn State Ag Action Network.

Mr. Hetherington was named Cooperator of the Year by the Schuylkill County Conservation District (1993), received the Pennsylvania Master Corn Growers Award (1987), and the Pennsylvania Master Farmer Award (1996).

He was elected to the Board of Trustees for a three year term beginning July 1, 2006, by delegates from agricultural societies.
