Mr.
Schaffer received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State in 1941. He
was elected by delegates from Industrial Societies for a three year term
beginning July 1976 and was reelected for three succeeding terms. Mr.
Schaffer served as vice chairman of the Committee on Physical Plant from
1976-1979 and then as chairman from 1979-1986 in addition to serving on several
other Board committees. He was a member of the Architect/Engineer Selection
Subcommittee of the Committee on Physical Plant from 1979-1987; served on the
executive committee and on the 1981 Presidential Selection Committee.
Mr. Schaffer was named a Distinguished Alumnus in 1972, an Alumni Fellow in 1986, and served on the Alumni Council for 12 years; he was also elected to honorary fraternities Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Tau and Pi Tau Sigma. The title of Trustee Emeritus was conferred upon Mr. Schaffer in January 1992. February 2007 |
