Special Announcement from Chair Laurie Breakey:

This Senate Curriculum Report contains the first disciplinary team proposal brought forward as part of the implementation of the “Uniformity of Course Abbreviations within Disciplines” legislation approved by the Senate on April 26, 2005, and the President of the University on June 13, 2005. The proposal was submitted by one of 48 disciplinary teams, the Operations Management Disciplinary Team, which is comprised of faculty representatives from Altoona, Behrend, Harrisburg, Business (University Park), and University College (DuBois). Seventy courses that include the abbreviations of B A; B LOG; BUS; MANGT; MNGMT; MS&IS; OISM; and SC&IS are being consolidated. Forty courses are being dropped and 30 courses are being changed to the abbreviation of SCM (Supply Chain Management).

Expedited proposals from the Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology disciplinary teams are currently undergoing consultation.

The courses have been published in the standard format, by college, in the Senate Curriculum Report. A list of all courses changed by the legislation will be published on the Faculty Senate Curriculum Information Website. An expedited proposal submission process has been put in place for the review of disciplinary curriculum through December 2006.

For additional information, please refer to the “Implementation of Uniform Course Abbreviations’ Legislation” informational report, Appendix H, in the April 25, 2006, Senate Agenda.
