SENATE CURRICULUM REPORT
TO: All Senators, The Executive Vice President and Provost of the University, The Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses, Deans, Chancellors, Heads of the Departments (Programs, Divisions, Intercollege Programs), Members of the Administrative Council on Undergraduate Education, and Members of The Graduate Council Committee on Programs and Courses.
Special Announcements:
There are six Uniform Course Abbreviation (UCA) disciplinary proposals published on this Report. Four of the UCA proposals were approved by the Senate Committee on Curricular Affairs (SCCA) earlier this spring and inadvertently deleted from the January 16 and March 6, 2007, Senate Curriculum Reports: Art, Civil Engineering Technology, Marketing, and Spanish. Two of the UCA proposals were approved at the April 24, 2007, meeting of SCCA: Accounting and Criminal Justice.
The Retention and Transfer Subcommittee approved changes to the academic entrance requirements for the seven College of Business majors: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Supply Chain and Information Systems. Specific information regarding the changes is published under the Subcommittee on Retention and Transfer on this Curriculum Report. The entrance to major requirements for the seven majors will become effective for new admits beginning Fall Semester 2007.
Effective academic year 2007-2008, all colleges are required to submit course add, change, and drop proposals through the Course Submission and Consultation System (CSCS).

I. OLD BUSINESS
Questions concerning items that have been held
must be resolved within a 90-day period following the approval date of the
Senate Curriculum Report. The proposals will be returned to the
presenting departments if the hold is not resolved by the end of the 90-day
period unless an extension of the hold is granted by the Senate Committee on
Curricular Affairs.

II. NEW BUSINESS
The Senate Committee on Curricular Affairs is considering the attached proposals. New majors, options, and minors become effective following the approval of the Executive Vice President and Provost. New courses and courses being dropped become effective the first semester following the approval of this Report unless otherwise specified. Changes in existing course offerings will become effective the date of the first published Schedule of Courses listing the changed course, unless written objection is received by the University Curriculum Coordinator Sherry F. Walk (sfw2@psu.edu) at the Senate Office, 101G Kern Graduate Building (863-1202) on or before July 12, 2007. A copy of any written objection sent to the Committee must also be sent to the college representative of the sponsoring college. The University Curriculum Coordinator will communicate the objection to the Chairperson of the Committee. Any item to which written objection is made will be reconsidered by the appropriate committee and may be delayed in becoming available for scheduling; however, reconsideration of any specific item will not affect the scheduling date of other items here listed.
