NGA WINTER MEETING TO RUN FEB. 26-29 IN WASHINGTON, DC

Feb. 21, 2000
University Park, Pa. — The National Governors’ Association (NGA) will hold its winter meeting Feb. 26-29 in Washington, D.C. The meeting typically attracts the attention of the nation’s best-known media, which means that local newspaper readers and television viewers — as well as those across the state and the nation — will be able to keep a close eye on the proceedings of the winter meeting.

This summer, NGA will hold its 92nd annual meeting on Penn State’s University Park campus and in the State College community, from July 8-11. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge will be the host governor for the 92nd annual meeting.

Media coverage of NGA’s annual and winter meetings typically includes live coverage of many sessions by C-SPAN and daily newspaper stories by The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, and many other major newspapers, as well as the Associated Press. Also, major network television news programs often cover the meeting.

Founded in 1908, NGA is a bipartisan, national organization that represents the governors of the 50 states and the five U.S. territories and commonwealths — American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Through NGA, the governors identify priority issues and deal collectively with issues of public policy and governance at both the national and state levels.
