Leap Into The Future At The At&T Center Conference

University Park, Pa. — Penn State’s AT&T Center for Service Leadership will hold its seventh annual statewide Service Leadership Conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 29, at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. The theme of this year’s conference is "Leap into the Future: Developing Leaders with Character."

The keynote speaker is Colorado Lt.Gov. Joe Rogers, who is the highest-ranking African American elected official in the country. Rogers is a leader in improving the lives of children and families, and an advocate for improving the education system. He is an inspirational speaker who frequently talks to college students and other organizations about leadership.

Jerry Sandusky, recently retired defensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions and founder of Second Mile, will be the featured speaker at lunch.

The program, which includes interactive workshops, will focus on community service and leadership development. In addition, Karen Fleisher, executive director of PennSERVE will hold a session on building consortia and using Americorps volunteers.

The registration deadline is Feb. 21. The University Park Allocation Committee is providing funding for 100 University Park students to attend the conference, although students will be required to pay a $5 registration fee.
