Three In ROTC To Be Honored For Achievements

University Park, Pa. Two ROTC cadets and one ROTC midshipman will receive 2000 Vice Provosts Awards for outstanding scholarship and leadership among this years graduating class at the ROTC Awards Day ceremony, 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28, in Schwab Auditorium. The public is invited to attend.To be honored are U.S. Army ROTC Cadet Andrew W. Mack of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; U.S. Navy ROTC Midshipman Mark R. Tschechtelin of Millersville, Md., and U.S. Air Force ROTC Cadet David J. Petrucci of Dover, Del.
Mack maintains a 3.92 cumulative grade point average in pre-medicine and has made the Dean's List every semester. He will be designated a Distinguished Military Graduate upon commissioning in May and will serve as the ROTC student marshal at his commencement ceremony. Mack has twice received the Department of the Army Superior Cadet Award for being the top cadet in his ROTC class and is the Nittany Lion Batallion Commander. He has been granted an educational delay to attend medical school at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
Tschechtelin will graduate in civil engineering and be commissioned in May. He has a 3.60 grade point average and has been on the Dean's List five of seven semesters. Tschechtelin was Batallion Executive Officer for fall semester 1999, president of both the Midshipman Professional Group and Sailing Club, and helped form the Submarine Warfare Society.
Petrucci holds a 3.88 grade point average in the electrical engineering program and will graduate and be commissioned in May. He has been on the Dean's List every semester and is ranked second of 36 senior cadets. In addition to a demanding schedule of academics and ROTC, Petrucci has continued to work part-time to meet the financial demands of his schooling. He is also a member of the Phi Eta Sigma honors program and the EEE Engineering Society.
