Frankel, Lee To Receive Ralph Dorn Hetzel Awards

University Park, Pa. Shannon Frankel of Cincinnati and Roderick Lee of Harrisburg have won Ralph Dorn Hetzel Memorial Awards and will be honored at Penn States Student Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 9, at the Penn Stater Conference Center and Hotel.
The Hetzel Award is named for Penn States tenth president (1926-1947) and recognizes a combination of high scholastic attainment together with good citizenship and participation and leadership in student activities.
Frankel is a member of the Schreyer Honors College and will graduate in May with a double major in journalism and political science. Last spring, she did an internship with Nigel Griffiths, Labor MP for Edinburgh in the British House of Commons and took part in the first Scottish national election. She also was a White House intern in the Office of the First Lady. Frankel writes a regular column in the Daily Collegian, student newspaper, and this summer hopes to return to Britain to continue her studies.
Lee is president of the Penn State Harrisburg Student Government Association and as such takes student concerns directly to the Provosts Council to be heard In addition to his campus leadership and class work as a marketing major, Lee is an Army veteran, is married with a family, and works a full-time job. He also actively participates in the Harrisburg community, his church and youth programs. Lee will graduate in May.
