Unity Week Activities Begin Oct. 23

University Park, Pa. — Uniting students, faculty and staff against racism and sexual assault/rape is the theme of Unity Week, coordinated and co-sponsored by the Undergraduate Student Government. Unity Week events, which begin Monday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Oct. 27, are funded through the University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC) and co-funded by The Center for Ethics and Religions Affairs, Office of Student Affairs, Paul Robeson Cultural Center and the Residence Life Cultural Lounge Series. Other events addressing hate and incivility may also be scheduled.

Unity Week List of Events
All week, students will be handing out gray ribbons to students, faculty and staff to symbolize campus unity.

Monday, Oct. 23

• "Walking Each Other Home…A Sensitive and Moving Discovery of the Misunderstandings That Lie Between Us" - a community therapy workshop sponsored by Students Against Racism at 7 p.m. in the HUB-Robeson Center Heritage Hall.

Tuesday, Oct. 24

Wednesday, Oct. 26

Sexual Assault/Rape Awareness Day

• Sexual Assault/Rape Discussion by Men Stopping Rape in room 106 of the HUB-Robeson Center at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., and 5 p.m.
• Candlelight Vigil on Old Main steps at 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 26

Hate Crimes Awareness Day

• Testimonies of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech at noon on Willard Steps
• Allies Program on Homophobia at 7 p.m. in Pollack Rec Room.
• Black Caucus Discussion on Hate Crimes at 8:15 p.m. in Pollack Rec Room.
• "Take Back Our Campus" vigil to rise up against hate at 10 p.m. on Old Main lawn.

Friday, Oct. 27

• Full-page ad in the Collegian of those concerned about sexual assault/rape.
