Womens History Month Celebrated with Images and Film
University Park, Pa. The Paul Robeson Cultural Center is celebrating Womens History Month with two free events to be held in Conference Room 019 in the HUB-Robeson Cultural Center:
--The images and biographies of 33 women of color who have been recognized by the National Womens Hall of Fame will be on display from March 13 to March 31.
--As part of our mission to teach and reinforce the value of and respect for the differing cultures that come to the crossroads of learning, we present a brown bag lunch series called Herstory each Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. beginning March 14. We welcome all interested individuals to join us in Conference Room 019 to highlight historical women and current womens issues through film. Please note the film schedule below:
Tuesday, March 14: Islam and Feminism (11:30 a.m.) and Killing Us Softly: Advertisings Image of Women (12:15 p.m.)
Thursday, March 16: Marian Anderson. The great African American contralto. (11:45 a.m. 12:45 p.m.)
Tuesday, March 21: The Fight in the Fields: Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and the Farm Workers Struggle (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.)
Thursday, March 23: Through the Wire. A penetrating look at the lives of three female prisoners. (11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.)
Tuesday, March 28: Jazz Is My Native Language: A Portrait of Toshiko Akiyoshi. (11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.)
Thursday, March 30: Wild Women Dont Have the Blues. Captures the spirit of pioneering blues women. (11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.)
