APPLE DONATES EQUIPMENT FOR DIGITAL RESEARCH LAB
Apple Computer has donated forty desktop and laptop computers, a camcorder, a digital camera, and other related equipment to furnish a new digital research lab in Patterson Building, home of the School of Visual Arts, at Penn State’s University Park campus. The Apple Digital Imaging Studio, scheduled to open in fall 2001, will support the new collaborative minor in Digital Arts and Information Sciences and Technology, to be offered by the College of Arts and Architecture and the School of Information Sciences and Technology (IST). "As immersive technologies and computer-based design increasingly become the standard in arts and architecture, it is essential for Penn State students to have state-of-the-art computer modeling tools available to them," says J. Gary Augustson, vice provost for information technology. For information on the College of Arts and Architecture, go to http://www.artsandarchitecture.psu.edu.
