Lawyer Turned Gameshow Host Next In Speaker Series

University Park, Pa. — Ben Stein,
host of the Emmy award-winning Comedy Central quiz show, “Win Ben Stein’s Money,” will speak at Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium as part of the University’s Distinguished Speakers Series on Monday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Tickets will be available to students attending the University Park campus on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Tickets will be available to faculty, staff and students from other Penn State campuses on Thursday, Oct. 11. The general public may pick up any remaining tickets beginning Friday, Oct. 12, on a first-come, first-served basis. The Eisenhower box office is open from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Limited tickets may also be available the night of the speech.

A man of many talents, Stein’s career path has been anything but typical. He graduated as valedictorian from Yale Law School, and served as a speechwriter and lawyer for Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. Stein is a longtime screenwriter, author, and a well-known actor in movies, television and commercials. His part of the monotone teacher in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” was recently ranked as one of the 50 most famous scenes in American film.

The Distinguished Speakers Series is sponsored by the University Park Allocation Committee, coordinated by the Distinguished Speakers Series Committee and the Office of Student Activities, and funded by student activity fees.
