University Park, Pa. – Allison Kessler has been appointed public information officer in the Department of Public Information on the University Park campus, effective Aug. 20. She graduated from the University in May with a B.A. in journalism and a minor in political science.

At Penn State, Kessler will help establish University-wide communications with academic and administrative units and provide advice on public information strategies. She will write and edit articles for traditional and electronic media, including the department's Newswire services, and support Web page development relating to news. She will also help develop media relations campaigns and strategies both locally and regionally.

As a student at Penn State, Kessler wrote and edited for The Daily Collegian and participated in the College of Communications’ Fall 2000 Communications and Democracy internship program in Washington, D.C.
