COURSE GIVES COUPLES GUIDANCE FOR MARRIED LIFE

University Park, Pa. – Penn State’s College of Health and Human Development will offer a course on Learning about Marriage, focusing on couple-centered premarital learning. The one-day or two-evening program is designed to give couples an opportunity to look at themselves and their relationship in an affirming, supportive atmosphere.

The course uses a variety of learning styles: short introductory talks, group discussions, couple interactions, individual exercises and many sharing opportunities. These allow couples to learn about the attitudes, skills and behaviors that they individually and collectively bring to marriage.

The Reverend David Robson, an Episcopalian priest, will instruct the course. For nearly twenty years he has facilitated workshops for couples planning marriage. Rev. Robson approaches premarital learning from the perspective that those planning marriage know better than anybody what is most required for the relationship. He helps couples to explore, individually and together, their thoughts and views and offers insights and information that may help couples deepen their relationship.

Two sections will be offered: Saturday, February 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or Tuesday, February 19, and Thursday, February 21, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Enrollment is limited; those interested are encouraged to register early.
