Strumpfs Endow Liberal Arts Scholarship
May 16, 2001
University Park Pa.—Linda and Jonathan Strumpf of Sands Point, N.Y., have given $125,000 to endow the Linda Brodsky Strumpf and Jonathan A. Strumpf Scholarship in the College of the Liberal Arts.
The Strumpfs say they see many talented young people who cannot go on to college because it is financially impossible. “Penn State doesn’t have a lot of scholarship money, and we wanted to do what we could to help,” Linda Strumpf said. “Education is important to both Jonathan and me.”
The Strumpfs graduated from Penn State in 1969, Linda with a degree in economics and Jonathan with a degree in psychology. She also received an M.B.A. from New York University and he completed his Ph.D. in psychology at NYU.
Jonathan Strumpf has been an educator his entire career as a school psychologist. Linda Strumpf is vice president and chief investment officer of the Ford Foundation, managing a portfolio of approximately $14.5 billion.
Penn State named Linda a Distinguished Alumna in 1999 in recognition of her outstanding achievements in personal, professional and community service. She is a member of the University’s Investment Council and the College of the Liberal Arts Development Council.
