Subasic Appointed New LGBTA Resource Center Director
10-29-2001
University Park, Pa. – The Division of Student Affairs has appointed Allison Subasic as director of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Allies (LGBTA) Student Resource Center effective Nov. 15.

Subasic comes to Penn State after 12 years at the University of California, Davis, nine of which dealt directly with LGBT issues and is the founding director of the LGBT Resource Center at UC Davis.

“Allison brings her educational programming and outreach experience in higher education to members of the Penn State LGBTA communities. She understands the college environment in which student’s develop their identities, relationships and sense of purpose as maturing adults,” said Arthur Carter, assistant vice president for student affairs.

She will continue to build upon the student programming and out-of-classroom learning experiences that were part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity. The enhanced LGBTA Student Resource Center offices are located in 101 Boucke Building.

“Allison will be able to engage students, and build allies and continued support for a safe and open environment. She has an excellent perspective on the importance of mentoring and nurturing students who are not always leaders or outspoken in the affairs of their community,” Carter said.
