19 Ways Penn State is Making Life Better
Penn State Research One

Penn State translates research into jobs.

NEARLY 14,000 JOBS can be attributed to Penn State’s $400 million research program each year, not including thousands more that are created or saved as a result of technologies developed at the University and transferred to the private sector. During a typical year, the University engages in research projects with nearly 400 Pennsylvania companies. Penn State receives more research funding from private industry--$68.5 million in fiscal 1999--than any other public university in the nation.

Two

Penn State alumni contribute to the economic, social, and cultural vitality of Pennsylvania.

MORE THAN 200,000 Penn Staters--over half of all living graduates of the University--continue to reside and work in the Commonwealth. Today, one in eight Pennsylvanians with a college degree is a Penn State graduate.
