Penn State puts a college degree within reach of most Pennsylvanians.

THE U.S. BUREAU OF LABOR estimates that by 2006, 10 million job openings nationwide will require at least a four-year degree. Penn State has been Pennsylvania’s largest source of baccalaureate degrees for more than 60 years. The University offers about 160 undergraduate programs at 21 locations—a Penn State campus is within commuting distance of virtually every Pennsylvanian—and 87 percent of Penn State undergraduates are Pennsylvania residents.

Penn State Cooperative Extension promotes community development.

COOPERATIVE EXTENSION, with an office in each of the Commonwealth’s 67 counties, reaches 2 million Pennsylvanians each year with free information about topics ranging from nutrition to farming to youth development. Included are Penn State 4-H activities that promote leadership abilities and healthy lifestyles for 167,000 Pennsylvania youths annually.
