    Penn State Brandywine (formerly Penn State Delaware County) is one of the most diverse campuses at the University, with students representing more than 50 countries of origin.

    Penn State Brandywine is one of a handful of University campuses offering the minor in Civic and Community Engagement.

    Penn State Brandywine has had several Fulbright Scholars, including Adam Sorkin, 1980-81, 1989; Carol Kessler, 1995-96; Michael De Rosa, 1997-98, 2005-2006; Richard Betts, 1998; and Djuradj Stakic, 2002-2003.

FACULTY SUPERLATIVES

    The campus has two Distinguished Professors, both of whom earned the distinction in 2000: Stephen J. Cimbala, Distinguished Professor of Political Science, and Adam J. Sorkin, Distinguished Professor of English.

    Director of Academic Affairs and Professor of History George W. Franz earned the Liberal Arts Alumni Society Faculty Outstanding Advising Award for 1993, and the McKay-Donkin Award for Service to the Faculty for 1994.

    The campus has had many George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching honorees, including George W. Franz, 1990; Robert Black, 1992; John Ousey, 1994; Peter Georgopulos, 1995; Mary Gergen, 1996; Charles Helou, 1999; Wayne McMullen, 2000; Arnold Markley, 2001; Paul Greene, 2005; and Laura Guertin, 2006.

    Penn State Brandywine has had four Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching honorees, the most of any non-University Park location: Stephen J. Cimbala, 1995; Elizabeth Buckmaster, 1996; Constance Kirker, 1997; and Charles Helou, 1999.

    Admissions Counselor Sylvia Schaffer earned the Alpha Sigma Lambda Outstanding Mentor for Adult Learners Award for 2001.

    Assistant Professor of Integrative Arts Constance Kirker earned the College of Arts and Architecture's Outstanding Teacher Award for 1993.

    Doris Griffith, senior instructor of kinesiology, earned the College of Health and Human Development CES Faculty Achievement Award for 1996.

    Recently retired faculty member Priscilla F. Clement earned the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching for 1991.

    Michael De Rosa, professor of biology, earned the Distinguished Service Award of the Eberly College of Science Alumni Society for 2005.

    Ivan Esparragoza, assistant professor of engineering, earned the Penn State Engineering Society Outstanding Teacher Award for 2005.

    Campus Librarian Sara Whildin earned the award for Outstanding Contribution to Penn State University Libraries for 1981.

    Several Penn State Delaware County faculty members have earned the Provost's Award for Collaborative Instructional and Curricular Innovation, including: Robert Ginsberg, 1992, 1994; Constance Kirker, 1992, 1997; John Ousey  1993, 1996, 1997; George Franz, 1996; Karen Hill, 1996, 1997; Sara Whildin, 1996, 1997; Elizabeth Buckmaster, 1997; Asad Azemi, 1998; Arya Ebrahimpour, 1998; and Alan Horwitz, 1998.

    Staff Assistant Jeanette Rieck earned the Staff Excellence Award for Outstanding Support Staff in 2005.

    A pair of campus employees has earned the Staff Excellence Award for Outstanding Technical Service: Terry Ernest, 2001; and Charles Lausch, 2004.
