Bruce L. Booth 1996 Recipient Of The Eric A. Walker Award

University Park, Pa. -- Bruce L. Booth, a senior from West Chester, is the recipient of the 1996 Eric A. Walker Award. The award recognizes one senior whose activities and achievements have enhanced the public esteem and renown of the University. He will be honored at the Student Awards Reception Monday, April 8, at 4:30 p.m. in the Nittany Lion Inn.
Booth is a University Scholar who recently received a Marshall scholarship to continue his biochemistry research in Oxford. His research has centered around the study of an enzyme which plays a central role in the splicing of messenger RNA. He was also a finalist for the Rhodes scholarship, as well as a recipient of a Goldwater scholarship for excellence in the sciences, mathematics and engineering.
Booth has complemented his academic achievements at the University with student leadership service. He has served concurrently as president of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, president of the Interfraternity Council and president of the North East Interfraternity Conference. Booth used these positions to increase campus awareness of women's safety and alcohol.
